My Loves
Busy!
I've had three babies this week so I haven't really gotten my camera out. Thankfully, we found our groove today (i.e. everyone napped when they were supposed to!) and I was able to take some pictures!
Sawyer has been SOOO good this week, which has been such a blessing. He's been a big help when I ask him to get me something and he's been doing great at entertaining himself! I sure have been enjoying our cuddle time after everyone leaves!
Sawyer playing with Trenton's exersaucer....really?! He and Aidan fought over it ALL day! |
Painting and a snack while Aidan and Trenton took their morning nap! |
He called me in the room and said "Circle, circle." He put his Gabbas in a circle...if you look closely you can see that his baby Gabbas are laying on his big Gabbas! |
There is a Yo Gabba Gabba episode where they are detectives...he immediately went and got his magnifying glass. Here he's looking at a sticker on the floor! |
Sawyer's sayings
This morning when I got out of the shower, I wrapped my hair up in a towel like I do every other morning...only, when Sawyer saw me, he said "Mama, where's head?!"
Last night he got all his DVD's out of the tv cabinet and scattered them about the room. Then he looked at me and said "Dada mess." I said "Did Dada make that mess?!" "Uh-huh," he replied!
Tuesday morning when Charlie brought Trenton over, he brought in Trenton's bag and toys before he got Trenton out of the car. Sawyer looked at him so seriously, cocked his head to the side, turned his little hands up, and said "Where Tin-tin?!"
His favorite new phrase is "Uh-huh."
Tonight he was playing with his little computer and he was telling me the letters he knew. When he got to "O," he told me it was a circle!
He keeps me laughing!

Maw-Maw's House
Sunday after church we headed to Maw-Maw's house...something I did as a kid every Sunday! On the way there Sawyer kept saying "Maw-Maw Houuuuse."
We had a delicious lunch of homemade chicken and dumplings, corn, pinto beans (Sawyer LOVED them) sweet tea, and Maw-Maw's famous biscuits!! YUMMERS!!!
After lunch we all went outside and watched Sawyer play.

Showing us his biscuit...this was before the dog got it! When the dog took it from his hand he looked at us and said "Dog ate 'bicits'" SO funny! |

Water Baby
Saturday my sister and I were out shopping and when we got back to my parent's house we found one happy little boy playing in the water. Mush got out the baby pool and water hose and Sawyer was ecstatic!! He loved for Mush to make it "rain" with the water hose. The water was freezing and his little teeth were chattering, but he kept asking her to do it again!
Saying AND signing "more" so Mush would make it rain! |
Standing in the freeeeeezing cold "rain!" |
Throwing water on Papa! |
Super excited face! |
Mush is cool and puts toothpicks in his food! |

Sawyer: 2 Years, 1 Month
Sleeping:
- Naps? What are those? In the past month his days of not taking a nap far outnumbered his days of taking one....crazy considering how hard he's playing outside.
- He is still sleeping with his paci but isn't allowed to have one otherwise. He's doing really well...he's not even using it at church!
- Sawyer's bedtime is still 8:30 when he naps, 7:30 when he doesn't nap.
- He went through a 2 week period of waking up at 6:00 or 6:30, but for the past week he's been sleeping until almost 8 everyday.
Eating:
- Sawyer is not a huge fan of meat...he'd rather eat fruit and veggies, so I make sure to give him things like black beans, greek yogurt, and peanut butter to make sure he gets his protein.
- Sometimes I think he lives on air because he's quickly outgrowing his 2T clothes (praise the Lord for a friend who had a whole tub of 3T summer shirts for us), but he doesn't eat anything! Apparently that's what 2 year olds do!
- He LOVES "moothies" (smoothies). I usually put spinach, yogurt, an assortment of fruit, and some flax seed in his.
- He thinks that everything I put on his plate is hot. He'll put his hand over every item and say "hot?" He knows the difference between hot and cold, but for some reason still thinks that food is always hot.
- I started giving him water in a big boy cup every so often. He does pretty well.
- This month, I'd say his favorite foods are green peas, broccoli, and hummus.
Talking:
- LOTS of new words/simple sentences this month!
- He's starting to sing along with songs...but when I ask him to sing he'll "sing" oooo ooooh ooooh at different pitches...so cute!
Social Skills:
- We're still working on sharing as Sawyer dislikes seeing anyone play with anything that is his, looks like his, or he wants to be his!
- He really loves Aidan...he likes to take him to different rooms to play, talk to him, read books to him, take him his drink, tell him what to do! LOL!
- His last Toddler Choir meeting was last night. I'm really proud of how much he learned and how much he grew. He's still the youngest one in the class, but he participates and loves going. We'll start up again when school starts!
Playing/Learning:
- He knows the basic colors (red, blue, green, yellow, orange, black, purple, pink) very well.
- He can identify the letters in his name.
- His FAVORITE thing to play with right now is his drum set and he'll make a drum/drumsticks out of everything. He loves music...I definitely prayed that he would love music like me and be able to sing or play an instrument!
Discipline:
- Oh.my...we've had a time this month with discipline.
- On two instances it took him being disciplined 5 or 6 times before he cleaned up his toys.
- We've been putting him in time-out A LOT for having a bad attitude, whining, stomping his feet, etc. One way or another he'll learn that we don't always get what we want, and there's a correct way to behave when that happens.
- Whereas a month ago he would say "sorry" when he disobeyed, now it's apparently a dirty word to him because he will throw a hissy fit when I tell him he needs to say sorry....which leads to more disciplining!
- According to most people who watch him (my parents, church workers) he's delightful...until I come around!
- Lately, every time I discipline him I pray that the Lord would use his.."determination" in a mighty way for His kingdom...I hope that one day Sawyer is a man who stands firm in what he believes and what the Bible says and is not easily swayed by the world.
Spiritual Growth:
- This month he is loving our VBS music (I have it early since I'm teaching a class). He has learned some of the words and sings when we're in the car. His favorite song is "You Make Everything New."
- He learned "This Little Light of Mine" a couple weeks ago. When you sing "Hide it under a bush," he'll yell "OH NO!" So cute!
- We talk a lot about how obeying mommy means that he's obeying God.
- He reminds us to pray sometimes...especially if one of us sits down at the table after we've already prayed.

Our Garden
This morning Sawyer and I went to Lowes to get some vegetable plants. We ended up with orange, red, and yellow peppers, cherry tomatoes, yellow tomatoes, basil, squash, zucchini, and eggplant. We spent the rest of the morning and afternoon outside digging and planting! I've still got to plant the peppers tomorrow!
He really did try to do everything I was doing...too cute! I'm looking forward to him being able to help me pick the veggies and eat them!! And I'm really looking forward to saving money and not spend $4 on cherry tomatoes everytime I want to make my favorite summer pasta dish!

Juice Hands?
It's not uncommon for Sawyer to ask me multiple times a day to "juice hands." He means that he wants to wash his hands...and when I tell him to say "wash" he can totally say it...but then he'll go right back to saying, "Juice hands?!"
My Lunch Date
Lots of Sunday's Sawyer and I are on our own for lunch and supper. And this past Sunday Lance had to stay at church for a luncheon, so I went by McDonalds on our way home. While we were sitting in the drive thru Sawyer was so cute. The window opened and the lady gave me my straws, then she shut the window again. Sawyer said "Oh no, oh no..food??" I guess he thought we weren't getting our food!

Saturday my mom and I took him to the mall (without a stroller!). He loved riding in the little quarter rides and he played in the little indoor playground. We had lunch at Chick-fil-a and my mom bought him some super cute shoes for church!

ALL Boy!
When we got home after church last night, our neighbors were outside with their little boy, so we stayed outside to chat. It wasn't long before Sawyer and Davis were running to the water table. They played there for a while and then played in the yard (which was muddy and wet from a storm yesterday evening). When it was time to go in they were both soaked from head to toe and SO dirty. He is ALL boy!

Water Table!
Today we got to test out Sawyer's new water table that Auntie Tursta got him for his birthday. HUGE HIT! Thankfully the sun decided to come out and cooperate!
They were so excited when I finally opened the door and let them go out and play! |
This little boy had a blast! |
How sweet is this picture?! |
Trying to drink from the hose! |
After I got them inside we headed straight to the tub...and then I had two tuckered out little boys! |
