Daddy's Little Helper

Today Lance dug up 8 bushes in front of our house. The roots were really big and really deep, so it took him all morning and most of the afternoon.

Sawyer wanted to be like daddy and tried his hand at landscaping....

It was totally his idea to bring the saw out to Lance!

Today I was reminded of just how much Sawyer imitates what he sees us do...and not just cute little things...

We are his first and most important example of what marriage is and looks like...

Lance is the most influential example in Sawyer's life of what a godly man looks like, how a man should lead his family, provide for them, and protect them...

I am the most influential example in his life of what a godly woman looks like, how a wife should submit to her husband, and care for the needs of her family and household...

Those are HUGE responsibilities. And he is watching and learning all the time...
What he sees us do, he'll probably do too. The things we make priorities, he will probably make a priority in his life.

Our most important goal for him is that he knows and loves the Lord with all his heart, mind, soul and strength, and lives his life accordingly. It's both a huge responsibility and blessing to teach him about God. I love when we sit down at the table and before anyone even says anything he clasps his little hands together and says "pray?" I love kneeling down beside his bed with him at naptime/night-night time and praying together. I love reading the Bible with him and teaching him that God's Word is good and true. I love singing songs with him about how Jesus loves him....

But it's about more than that...it's about really living out the Word, and showing him that we don't just know about God, but we KNOW God....
