Sawyer is such a ham...he LOVES mirrors (ahem, Meredith!). He found his "boggin" the other day and was hamming it up!
This kid is a hoot...I'm so thankful for the laughter he brings to my life!

Playground Photos
Monday it was absolutely gorgeous out, so we packed some snacks and went to the church playground. I got some really cute pictures of Sawyer!
Davis Family Visit
Last Sunday my parents and Meredith and Adam came to visit after church. My mom practically brought a Thanksgiving meal up here...she made ham, potatoes, green beans, pintos, mac-n-cheese, deviled eggs, veggies and dip, and her amazingly delicious pound cake! (Side note: I'm so thankful that my mama let me be in the kitchen with her when I was younger. She made us home made meals pretty much every night and now I do the same for my family)
Sawyer is always uber excited to see Papa, Mush, Mimi and Adam! It makes my heart happy!

Sawyer, the Photographer
Sawyer took this picture the other night by himself. The lighting is kinda wierd, but I really love it!
I'm so thankful for our marriage...thankful to be married to a man who loves the Lord above all and lives a life worthy of the calling of Christ, thankful for how he loves me, how crazy in love he his with Sawyer, thankful that he works long, hard days and nights and weekends to provide for us and to minister to our Church body....just thankful!
I love you, Lance Cole!

Sawyer: 2 Years, 5 Months
Sleeping:
- Sawyer is taking afternoon naps again! I'm thankful that we stuck it out and kept putting him in his bed.
- Sleeps from 7:30/8pm til about 7/7:30am
- Every morning he calls me and says, "Mama, I woke up!" He does this in the middle of the night sometimes, too. I've been telling him that when it's dark outside we have to sleep.
Eating:
- This month was the first time ever that he got sick and wouldn't eat. Seriously...one day I had to use a medicine dropper to get liquids in him.
- Favorite Foods: okra, broccoli, cucumbers, blueberries, cottage cheese, cheese toast and buttered toast, hot dogs, pasta, corn, beans, yogurt
- Dislikes: meat, mashed potatoes
Talking:
- NON-STOP!
- It seems like he says new words and phrases every day. This is such a fun stage!
Social Skills:
- Sawyer is so afraid of elderly people...which means that church can sometimes be a nightmare. We are still working on speaking when spoken to and looking at people when they are talking to him. I know that he has a timid, shy personality, but I don't want that to be an "excuse" for being rude.
- He's been doing better with drop off at church, but had a major meltdown last week when I dropped him off for choir last week.
- He plays pretty well with other children, but as with any two year old, he doesn't always share!
- He's starting to express and recognize emotions: "I'm happy" (which is the CUTEST thing to hear him say) or "He's sad" or "I'm tired."
Playing/Learning:
- We've been doing a few more structured activities this month with letters, shapes, colors, and counting and he's doing great.
- He knows several shapes: triangle, square, circle, star, diamond, hexagon, trapezoid
- He loves his counting/sorting bears and can correctly sort and count them.
- He knows his numbers up to 13, and then he just keeps saying "fourteen, fourteen, fourteen!"
- He loves to ask me yes or no questions..."Mama, bear go in this one? Noooo (or, yes!)"
- Sawyer is a pro at using my Kindle to play games, color, and watch videos.
- He is starting to color objects instead of scribbling all over the page.
- I've been letting him help me more in the kitchen. He likes to get things out of the fridge or cabinet for me.
- He builds awesome things with his blocks...I love watching him!
- He is really into his Blues Clues Alphabet DVD and I leave it on a lot. He picks up SO much from it! In the past week he's learned so many letters!
Discipline:
- Still working (and I think we'll always be working) on obeying "all the way, right away, and with a happy heart"
Spiritual Growth:
- Sawyer moved up to the 2/3 year old Sunday School class, so he has a more structured environment and brings home lessons and verses to go over.
- Sawyer prays by himself before most meals and sometimes before bed.
- I got him the creation flannel board pieces and he loves to play with it, though we don't always make it through the whole story.
- One day before lunch, he thanked God for the green grass and blue sky. Melt my heart.
Potty Training:
- Probably once or twice a day he will pee pee on the potty. Sometimes he refuses to sit on it, so I don't push him, but we do praise and give treats for successes!!

Thomas the Train!
My friend, Jen, had two extra tickets for the "Day out with Thomas" event in Spencer, North Carolina at the Transportation Museum. We excitedly took her up on the offer even though we were still getting over the crud!
The area was so cute. It was almost like a tiny fall festival with yummy homemade food, games, bouncy houses, a hay maze, and of course, we got to ride Thomas!
Thank you, Jen, for inviting us!!!

Checking out the map."Mama, go right deh, right deh, right deh!" |
Waiting patiently to board the train! He was SO well behaved and I was SO thankful since Lance wasn't there to help me! |

SICK
We've had a very sick baby on our hands. Friday night he gave us a scare because he was gasping for breath. Lance and I looked at each other and ran out the door, hopped in the truck and headed for the ER. About 2 seconds after we got in the truck, we realized that if Sawyer was screaming and crying, he wasn't having any issues breathing! We decided that he just got really congested and stopped up. We had a horrible weekend....very little sleep, Sawyer wouldn't eat ANYTHING, had a fever and was SO grumpy and clingy. Saturday I had to give him liquids through a medicine dropper. We stayed home from church on Sunday and I took him to the doctor Monday. She told me to give him Mucinex (why can't the nurse hotline tell you that?!?!) and it was one of those things we'd have to wait out.
By Tuesday we were seeing some improvement and were able to take him to Revival. He still wasn't sleeping great or eating like usual, but we saw glimpses of our happy baby!!
Here are some pictures I took of our sick little boy:

We moved Sawyer's mattress into the living room because he coudln't sleep and tv was making him happy! This picture was taken at 2am...he woke up and wanted to color! |
"Washing dishes." Water makes this boy happy, and after the night we had, all I wanted was to see him smile! |
Get well balloons (and stuffed animals) sent to him by Mush and Papa! How sweet!! :) He was so excited! |
Watching himself in the mirror! |
Lots and lots of laying around watching his shows. |

"I Clean!"
Sawyer's Buddy
Meredith and Adam came to see us today. Sawyer was basically glued to Adam's hip...in fact, I didn't even get a picture of him with Murf! Thank you, Uncle Adam, for being so awesome with Sawyer!! He loves you so much!
Pizza!
I got brave and let Sawyer help me make dinner. On Wednesday nights I make something easy that we can take to church and we have supper with Lance before Sawyer and I have Choir and Lance has to run off to youth.
I recently discovered how AMAZING pizzas made with yeast rolls are! They taste like Pizza Hut, but SO much cheaper and better for you!
Sawyer has a favorite Fresh Beat Band episode that is about a pizza party. He basically quoted it as we made the pizzas. "Roll the dough, spread the sauce, sprinkle the cheese...." It was hilarious. He did a great job. I can't wait to get him more involved in the kitchen with me!

Acorns
Tuesday I was outside with the boys and Sawyer discovered all the acorns in the back yard. We collected them, counted them, made lines and shapes with them, threw them, and "fed" them to the birds.
I was reminded that simple things can be the best things. We had the best time finding acorns, and counting and creating. I think we sometimes get so wrapped up in technology and "education" that we forget about the simple things. I'm thankful for the little lessons God teaches me through my sweet boy!

Stinker
The other night I was cleaning up before bed and noticed that the lights kept flickering in the living room. This little stinker had gotten his stool and was playing with the lights.

Awesome Weather!
We've lived outside this week with all the awesome weather we've been having! I'm SO thankful for the cooler temps!
"Mama, I mow the grass!" |
Sawyer adores playing with his daddy! |
Lance would throw a ball on the roof of the house and Sawyer thought it was SO much fun to wait for it to come back to him! |
